Title Antigone Adrift Year 2024 Client Centre Georges Pompidou Category Performance

Antigone Adrift is a collective action presented at the Centre Georges Pompidou (2024) that explores the Greek myth of Antigone as a conceptual framework to reflect on resistance, activism, and social justice. The project, led by artist María José Contreras, combined participatory methodologies, where technological tools were part of the creative process from its beginning. Twelve activists were invited to a series of workshops where they shared their personal experiences and collective struggles. These encounters shaped a multimedia performance that interweaves their voices with historical accounts of resistance.

We developed a visual synthesis and interactive video mapping system using TouchDesigner, capable of processing and displaying visuals in real time. This responded to live data streams from cameras and infrared motion sensors. This was integrated with the rendering of 3D scenes built in Unity from volumetric captures of the performers using Azure Kinect SDK.
